The Girl on the Train - New Vintage Theater
The New Vintage Theater's production of "The Girl on the Train" was a unique challenge. With no traditional set pieces, Director Bonnie Gratz made the bold decision to rely on projections to tell the story. This presented a fascinating opportunity for me as the lighting designer. I wanted my work to not only enhance the atmosphere and build tension but also suggest the unseen environments the characters inhabited. It was also a chance for personal growth – this was only my second time operating an ETC console, and the second time building a show for another technician to operate. There were some nerves, of course, but also a real excitement about pushing boundaries and exploring new creative possibilities.
